1) A meaningless expression used by a speaker who can't or won't decide on a word to express her emotional state.

Hey, Natalie, how was your day? Marf. That bad, huh?

What should we order, pizza or Chinese? Marf. I don't really want Chinese, so...pizza.
2) From the sound of a dog trying to meow. Implies a total lack of comprehension. Also used to indicate that the person speaking is babbling nonsense. Quickly becomes an in-joke for those that use it. Confuses the hell out of the mundanes. Replaces Huh?

Boss: Do you think that the color of my socks could be affecting the speed of my network connection? Response: Marf? Boss:What? Response:Exactly.
